USS Independence CV-62 Patch
USS Independence CV-62 "Don't Tread on Me" patch.

The USS Independence (CV-62) was an aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. She was one of the conventionally powered supercarriers. The ship entered service in 1959, with much of the early years spent in the Mediterranean Fleet. In May of 1965, the Independence deployed for more than seven months, including 100 days in the South China Sea, off the coast of Vietnam. The Independence was also the 5th U.S. carrier to operate off Vietnam. The Independence and the ships Air Wing 7 received the Navy Unit Commendation for exceptionally meritorious service. The carrier's air group participated in the first major series of coordinated strikes against vital enemy supply lines.
